OT Glossary

The growing integration and interconnection between information technology (IT) systems and operational technology (OT) systems. Traditionally, OT systems were isolated and used proprietary tech, and IT was separate. Now, companies want real-time production data in their IT analytics, and OT systems are adopting more standard IT components (like PCs, Windows, Ethernet). IT/OT convergence brings efficiencies and data-driven operations (predictive maintenance, etc.), but also means OT systems become exposed to IT-style cyber threats.
